PSEA & Safeguarding
Everyone We Serve
Must Be Safe
HEART is a member of the PSEA Network of local NGOs in Cox's Bazar and follows the IASC core principles on protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, as applied by the Inter Sector Coordination Group (ISCG) in Cox's Bazar. These rules apply to every staff member, volunteer, intern and partner.
The six core principles
- Sexual exploitation and abuse by humanitarian workers are acts of gross misconduct and grounds for dismissal.
- Sexual activity with children (anyone under 18) is prohibited, whatever the local age of consent.
- Exchanging money, jobs, goods or services, including assistance, for sex is prohibited.
- Sexual relationships between staff and the people we serve are strongly discouraged, because they are based on unequal power.
- Staff, volunteers and partners must report any concern or suspicion of sexual exploitation or abuse.
- Managers must create and maintain an environment that prevents sexual exploitation and abuse.
