From Awareness to Action: World Rabies Day 2025
On 28 September 2025, HEART observed World Rabies Day across Teknaf, Ukhiya, Moheshkhali and nearby communities under the global theme “From Awareness to Action.”
Rabies remains a public-health threat in rural and disaster-affected parts of Bangladesh, where human and animal health services are limited. HEART brought together youth leaders, local authorities, health workers, veterinarians and community members to work on prevention.
What we did
Activities included awareness campaigns in schools, colleges and markets; vaccination for dogs and cats with veterinary partners; art and essay contests for children; community sessions on bite prevention and first aid; and dialogue with health workers and animal-health experts.
The goal is a rabies-free Bangladesh, built on the One Health approach that links the health of people, animals and the environment.
